Not getting as hyped up as this anon but, I can see why someone would take offense to you here. You may think you're offering another perspective but you come off like you're presuming what's going on in someone else's head and telling them "oh it isn't really anxiety it's ego".

That may work for you but for someone else it can sound pretty insulting.
