There's nothing wrong with choosing not to eat certain foods for whatever reason. Non-vegetarians do it all the time. I doubt most meat-eaters who bitch about vegetarians would eat dog or cat, after all. If anything, there's more hypocrisy there. Or the outrage whenever horse meat is discovered in someone's hot dog. *eye roll*

Not the point, but horse meat is delicious. Kind of like rougher beef.

Vegetarian here, and I'd eat dog before I ate cat, even though I like both (as pets, not food) equally, because as obligate carnivores I imagine cats taste pretty gamy and gross. Dogs probably aren't very tasty from my perspective either, but cats are pretty much relegated to survival food (or food as medicine in the case of big wildcats) compared to dogs, who are sometimes raised for meat.

It's not hypocrisy to not eat something you have an emotional attachment to. Especially when, in the case of dogs and cats, the something belongs to a trophic level that most people won't consume anyway if they have another option.
