It's also why I stick to "Choose Not to Warn". It's just easier when people want trigger warnings for everything from character death (which is totally reasonable) to ice cream. It's not that I'm slacking off. I'd just rather people avoid my fic than deal with 50 variations of "you need a warning for this".

nayrt. I agree, I'm a big fan of Choose Not to Warn for the same reasons. All the bases are covered at once.

I don't even think character death needs to be warned for. What is wrong with seeing what happens in the story as you read it?

Because some people just don't like character death to the point where it's a waste of time for them to read the story.

If your story would be ruined with that as a warning, maybe it's not that good.

Also it's fandom and not everyone wants to read about surprise death in their escapist hobby.
