Gen X are 60s through to 80s births. People now in their 30s and 40s. I'm the latter end of Gen X. I am not familiar with the term Millenials, but it might refer to current teens and pre-teens - kids born after 1999. 80s and 90s is probably Gen Y.

Close, but switch Millenials and Gen Y.

No, you're wrong.

I'm leading-edge-ish Gen X. I think the Millenials are currently entering the workforce. So, as the other anon says, that means Gen Y are the current teens? But why are they Y when X comes after Y?

That just don't make no sense. And who decides this, anyway? Who is involved in the secret cabal that names generations, and why can't I get a job there. The current names are boring. I want Generation Bacon.

Y comes after X - XYZ.

I have no idea where "Generation X" came from, but I had an impression "Gen Y" was always the ones following X. I also think that name was something created in public media.

As long as I don't get called Generation Bacon, because I don't eat it.

Oh, LOL! That is funny. I guess I was singing the alphabet wrong in my head. Don't mind me, nothing to see here. LOL!

How about Generation Ice Cream? Popcorn?

I'd be glad to take Generation Popcorn. I feel it is fitting - I can sit back and munch popcorn while watching the other generations. And then complain when I get corn husks in my gums.

Gen Y is the same thing as Millennials. They are the generation born after 1980 who became adults in the new millennium. If that helps. I forget why Gen X is called Gen X, though.

I just looked at the Wikipedia article again, apparently it was some famous photographer who said the term - so it comes from media as well.
