No, we're talking about the term gamer. Not "gaming culture". (which is also a term I take issue with, especially how you're pretending that it's one homogeneous thing defined by the loudest and most offensive assholes, but that's something else). Gamer is no different a term than "basketball player" or "musician".

By the way, I think it is you who is probably not a gamer and has no experience in "gaming culture".

'Gamer' is used as a term for someone in gaming culture, not for any person who plays video games.

You are wrong.

Gamer is used by anyone who frequently plays games.

And "gaming culture" is not one homogeneous thing. Gaming culture is just as much girls cosplaying Final Fantasy characters at a convention, or kids trading Pokemon at school, or college students getting together to play Super Mario Kart on someone's SNES, or someone playing The Sims.
