It's an artist known as zammi070. The main reason people hated her was for a drawing of a native American fluttershy.

It is definitely way thin, but she drew it a long time ago and all her subsequent art featured an appropriately chubby Rose.

Also, recently she asked people to stop drawing "skinny rose" art in her name/in 'solidarity' with her. Which I think says something about her character.

Not being over familiar with SU, by body positive you mean large. So if a large person identified with this character in some form or fashion, and drew a thinner version to use as their 'fitspiration' or whatever the going term is for improving themself, that would be wrong or problematic or something? That's deeply uncool and very anti artistic freedomesque.

To be honest I think that's pretty shitty. Taking representation and changing it to fit your ideal is kind of lame. It doesn't just belong to you, and I'm pretty sure Rose is perfectly happy at the weight and using her for fitspo implies that like you, she isn't?

But it's nothing to send death threats over.

Why? My personal preference is for on model artwork and fic where the character's behaviour is canon compliant. But fandom is filled with gender and race bent and other off model art because it makes other people happy. Similarly, fic is written that is filled with Mills and Boon tropes and seme/uke relationship dynamics, unlikely characters have neuroses and disorders that aren't in canan, because it makes people happy to write those characters in those fashions.

I don't see a difference here. This is fandom. It's supposed to be about being a happy hobby, not policing other fans for compliance points.

The "good grief" was aimed at calling the drawing a stick. The drawing definitely showed a big and curvy Rose.

Not quite, the main reason was allegations that she was a pedophile sympathizer because she used to be friends with convicted predator Griddles. But apparently she was around 13 at that time, why people targeted her instead of Griddles, god knows...

She also sent herself death and rape threats to gain sympathy. That made me avoid her, though it can be forgiven.

I've watched many people become infamous online and no matter what they got infamous for, it quickly turns into an opportunity for bored bullies to pettily nitpick and bash them over their every move. And in Zamii's case, this was combined with self-righteous callout culture to make it even more toxic. I'm just glad she's okay.
