I like Iris & Caitlin both. I do agree that both of them are underutilized &/or fall under the "smart people being dumb" trope, but honestly, the entire show is "smart people being dumb."

I like all of the characters, really. Barry is my #1 (cutest superhero ever), but I love Wells so much. So. Much.

I think you've said it quite well!

(though there are some very very hidden depths to one Harrison Wells...)

Wells is probably the best, most interesting character on the show. Definitely the deepest, best written character.

Barry just happens to be the most adorable person ever created, so. . .

I feel the writers are really falling on the old cliches because they just don't know what to do with the character. Barry keeping him being the Flash a secret from her was really grating. And honestly I'm not sure the new season is doing all that much better since she's just kind of there to be moral support. Idk in a lot of ways I'm frustrated and in other ways I just let it roll off because that's the kind of show this is.

I feel like Caitlin fits her role of sidekick a lot better.

Yeah, the show should be called "Flash: Let's Be Dumb". Sometimes it's cute and funny, sometimes it's grating and awful. But I don't think any character is particularly worse than any other.

Yeah, my biggest problem with The Flash is that they're all supposed to be super intelligent scientists & detectives, but they all constantly sound and act like teenagers. The writing is consistently awful.

Me watchin both Arrow and Flash: "JUST TALK TO EACH OTHER YOU DUMBASSES"

I love Iris and Caitlyn both (actually I love pm everyone in the show, but mostly Wells because genius writing and acting, fave villain ever ys plz, and Barry because adorkable CSI with heroic heart of gold like canonically even Batman is like "God I lovethat dude he's amazing") but the writers don't always handle them well. For the most part they're doing a good job adapting an old comic concept to a modern tv screen, and I love that they're not afraid to go balls to the wall nuts (Grodd! Land shark! Closing a black hole by running really fast!), but not telling Iris the first season was definitely just "Well idk the 'love interest' can't know straight away, that's not how it works!". Although within the show I can kinda understand it because Joe is mad overprotective and it was him that forbade Barry from telling.
