Well, I don't think you're wrong, but I also think that the way that Marten is used does make sense given that context. Because he actually doesn't play a big role in the comic anymore, if you notice. He's mostly just hanging around being chill and giving advice to the characters who still do have actual dramatic storylines, like Faye. Which is good. It's good that the comic isn't really about him anymore, because that's not an interesting comic and it's clearly not the comic that Jeph wants to make.

Sorry I still like QC everybody.

I think my problem is that I'd rather the characters interact with other characters about their problems. Y'know, more interesting characters. When's the last time Faye and Dora interacted? They were such good friends, and I want to know what happens with them. I'd also like to see more about Dora and Sven.

Marten might not be the one with the dramatic story lines, but he's still The Center of the Universe in that most of the time characters interact with him rather than each other.

Well Dora fired Faye, so perhaps not so good friends anymore. I can see them reconciling, because it was for the best interests of both Dora's business and Faye's health, but it hasn't happened.

AYRT

The thing is - and this is part of what I was trying to get at - the thing is that the comic really isn't about Faye, Dora, and Marten anymore. I think it's pretty clear that Jeph got bored of writing that comic. It's about the new characters (and Dora) having adventures, with Marten as the sort of normal hub of their lives & social scene. & I think that's okay, because I like most of the new characters. And I think we do get to see the characters interact with each other - it's not all through Marten - but that is how the strip is.

Just my 2c
