I'm so glad I read the thread this is referencing or I'd be extremely appalled about people actually using honey as lube.

What thread? I just work in an ER and regularly see first time analers who used honey as a lube. I can only assume it gets mentioned in some trashy romance series or something. It is always young het couples too, never the gays.

Omg really? There was some thread here a few weeks ago or so where a fic writer was asking about how plausible it was to have fantasy characters use honey as lube. I honestly can't believe people really do it. I'm in a opposite sex relationship and I'd never even think to use honey as lube. It's not even close to anything you should be putting up your butthole. Don't these people at least have some kind of oil in their houses?

Sure engine and loosening oil. Yes, really. The latter they sometimes use to try and counteract the stickiness of the honey when they discover that honey is not sexy as anal (or occasionally vaginal) lube.

That is not the worst thing I've seen people try to use as lube. I've seen people who thought that hair conditioner would be a great idea who then ended up with a whole lot of irritation because that stuff was never intended to be in contact with mucosal membranes.

Eh, I've used that in the past - no big. (Not, however, for anal.) Some people are more sensitive to stuff than others.

I would just generally recommend to not make it a habit to use hair products for your nethers, especially internally. Even if you do have a mild formula, it can cause some pretty heinous reactions.

Like I've said, i've used it in the past, nothing happened. It's not a regular thing, but if shower sex happens (which, frankly, is not as fun or easy as movies make it seem) it won't *hurt*. At least, it won't hurt *me*. But then, i actually get soap on my nethers when I shower, and that doesn't bother me, either, unlike some of the people who've posted here.

Nethers. It's such a good word.

Lucky for me, i'm pretty non-reactive to stuff like that. Get me around a poison ivy/oak/or sumac plant, or an insect bite, though, and watch my entire skin try to crawl off my body.
