I think he's definitely taken more of a background role now, but you know that? He's HAPPY. He's not going through this big dramatic mess of things and he's just enjoying his time and life with Claire. I don't think that it's such a horrible thing to give characters a break from angst. He's grown, and while some people see it as boring, I see it as he's matured enough to do his thing, help his friends and not act like a teen whiner about it.

I get what you're saying, but I think there needs to be some sort of conflict in order for a story to be interesting. I'm not saying I want Marten's life to be a big dramatic mess, but I'd like him to have SOME direction. Maybe he can think about what he wants to do about his band, for instance.
