(Anonymous) 2015-11-08 04:24 am (UTC)(link)Yeah, there were definitely some political matches, and if I'm not mistaken, the marriage was consummated a little later, although I think the main character was about 17? I really hope she was 18. I can't recall. The current book has me questioning this later consummation, because there's already declarations of love and a kiss and she's 16, which is a green light in this book, apparently. One of the other anons also mentioned that it wasn't as common for the age gap in history, so you're probably right on the misunderstanding.
Also, the writer is a middle aged man.
