Not characters everyone hates but you love. More likes characters who everyone mocks and dismisses or labels as silly or useless or incompetent, but who you think was a cool and/or very capable or impressive person and character.

Hagrid from Harry Potter. I see why people made fun of him on a surface level (and it happened in canon - even Ron and Hermione were a bit tired of his creature stuff by HBP), but I love so many things about him. He played an important role in Harry's life, and I liked that aspect. I also think he was smarter than people gave him credit for.

But fandom seems to think of him as the Jar Jar Binks of Potterverse.

I absolutely adore Hagrid and was really sad he didn't get to appear more in DH. (I do kind of wish JKR had developed and let him deal with his creature obsession though.)

Aquaman. Particularly from the Brave and the Bold cartoon. He sings the sad song of the sea because no-one respects him.

Aquaman was cool because he was goofy and fun. DC's attempts to make him cool are making him totally uncool, but they are doing the same with the Joker too so DC are just shit at knowing what cool is.

Krillin from DBZ...sort of? Most people don't outright mock him THAT much, not as much as they do Yamcha, but people spend a lot more time making fun of how much he dies or gets his ass kicked, while I was always a lot more impressed with the fact that those things always happen when he KNOWS he can't measure up to any of the villains and will most likely die or get his ass kicked, but tries anyway.

(The Krillin Owned counter from the Abridged series is still hilarious though).

Jar Jar Binks. I never got the hate and I thought he was hilarious. I still don't know why people dislike him; granted, I haven't looked it up, but still!

Me too anon. I thought he was cute! I liked him more than the gold robot for sure...
