Re: What in canon do you ignore?
(Anonymous) 2015-11-09 03:13 am (UTC)(link)Henry spends three nights a week with Emma, three with Regina, and one with Neal, who is staying with Rumple and Belle. Neal has so far taught Mulan all the words to "Be a Man" and "A Girl Worth Fighting For," and Mulan is working up the courage to teach Aurora and Philip one word, namely "polyamory." Marian, Roland, and season 2 Robin Hood are very happy together.
...Yeah, I've hated canon OUAT since Hook went from villain to love interest in the five minutes between seasons 2 and 3, but it's a fun world to play in.

(Anonymous) 2015-11-09 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)As much as I loved the concept of the show's first season and saw so much potential for innovative storytelling in store for the later seasons, I have grown to hate the half season story arcs and the blatant pandering toward Disney's market. I think that the writers backed away from doing anything to challenge the actors (unless it's to see if the actors can deliver some of their lines with a straight face). As an example, I think that Regina and Charming should have flirted with an affair during S2, scandalizing all of Storybrooke as they protected Henry from Charming's "dad" while Emma and Snow were in the Enchanted Forest. The storytelling has gone downhill from there and is geared toward titillating Disney fans instead of crafting engaging tales and challenging interactions.
I think that the franchise of OUAT would have been stronger if there had been an avoidance of the Frozen storyline to emphasize the Ice Queen tale. Brave should have been left out completely. Some attention should have been paid to the actual timeline of the show as opposed to the seasonal time. With all the time losses and skipped/hiatus gaps, Emma is perhaps THE most fickle character in the universe.
Honestly I watch it because of Robert Carlyle. I'd rather watch him doing bad television than not have the opportunity to see him at all. I might wish that OUAT would reset to the end of Season 1 and have a mulligan but I think that it won't happen. Do you expect a season 6, based on what the show is doing now?
