I accept basically the entire ending, but instead of letting Rachel die, the Ellimist sent her off to a new universe where she can't return to her own.

I actually have a slightly elaborate headcanon where she becomes the head of an inter dimensional problem solvin hero team. The line up changes depending on who I feel needs saving from canon at the time, or just neat ideas like Michael Weston: Agent of SHIELD, but the core has always been Rachel, a version of Billy from the first series of Power Rangers who is unable to leave his lab/zord or he'll succumb to the rapid aging disease that originally wrote him off the show, and a depowered version of Superboy Prime who is essentially on a "work release" program.
