I feel like someone should tell those people that that's a really bad reason to get married.

I've tried telling people that. They don't really get it. They just assume I'm going to find someone I want to be with... as an aromantic asexual. 'Cause, you know, maybe I'm wrong and the right person just isn't here yet and I'm so closed minded, blah blah blah. It's by rote now. (So by the assumption that I have to fall in love at some point then obviously I should married to this hypothetical person and problem solved. Because finding a person to bind yourself to forever and ever is easy.)

I mean, one lady was so insistent and worried for me because of it she literally lectured me about it for over an hour.

Either way, makes me believe in my dream more simply out of spite.

Good lord, seriously?

I do not get people who do that. Why in the world do random strangers care so much whether or not someone gets married? My mom said she had co-workers asking her when she was going to be a grandmother, and they always seemed really surprised when she said she hadn't asked me or my sister when we'd have children. Just...what the hell business is it of theirs?

Yes seriously, unfortunately. It would have been shorter but I was at a gathering so I couldn't leave and she was drunk. And she wasn't a stranger. She's in the group of "possibly can become family by marriage".

Which is why she was apparently so damn concerned about my "happiness". But whatever, I tuned her out and thought of fic writing in my head.

If it happens again though I'll just tell her I'm straight and "working on it". At least that will get her to leave me alone. I've done it before. It gets people off your back.
