It's not just young people, really. My next-door neighbor lets her kids play outside and walk to the nearby park by themselves (they're 10 and 8), and just the other day they were brought home by police, who threatened her with CPS calls if she didn't keep them inside or if she wasn't with them (which she can't be, she works from home)-- he asked "what's wrong with just letting them watch Netflix?" Older guy, still couldn't fathom kids playing outside when they had technology at home.

when i was a kid I would much rather watch TV than run around outside randomly.

Okay? That's fine. But there are plenty of kids who prefer being outside, and it's adults who force them to stay inside watching TV. That's all I'm saying.
