It's funny, because I think Riker was when kid me realized I'm just not into men with facial hair. At all.

I'd be attracted to the guy above, but not to the guy below.

I'm not as a general rule, Riker is an exception as is David Xanatos.

RIKER SECRETS GIVE ME LIFE. <3

True story, this beard changed my father's life. My mother liked to watch TNG and when Riker grew the beard, she convinced Papa to grow sideburns to connect his beard to his hair the same way. Totally masked how round Papa's face was, giving him +5 handsome.

I like this story a lot. Kudos to your mother for her Riker-inspired facial hair advice!

This is an adorable story!

A friend had a very round face, and one day about three of us girls had an intervention and told him he needed to grow a beard.

"But I don't like beards," he said.

"But you need to grow a beard," we told him.

"I do?"

"Yes."

He did; it gave definition to his face and looked much better; and like a year later he was married.

Some people just look better with facial hair. And then there's some guys who just look better and better the shorter their hair gets (or longer). It's all to do with the shape of the face, I guess.

I don't love beards on everybody, but Riker's beard is a thing of beauty.

"Growing the Beard" is the lesser-known opposite of "Jumping the Shark"...when a show actually improves dramatically with time.

I thought most people liked him that way. I have to admit, with a beard at least he doesn't look like he's five.

Yes, I thought that was pretty much the consensus.

It doesn't help beardless! Riker that the show was at its weakest at that point, of course.

Super handsome.

Okay.

Some people look terrible with a beard. Some people look fine either way. But some, like Jonathan Frakes, just look sort of incomplete without them.

Yea, maybe it's because I'm so used to seeing him with the beard, but without it...doesn't seem 'right' somehow.

He rocks it.

(Anonymous) 2015-11-13 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
It does make him a hell of a lot more dashing, doesn't it? It's a more mature, but still adventurous sort of beard. It suits his face extremely well.

(Anonymous) 2015-11-13 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
It's kind of a Doctor Faustus beard.

(Anonymous) 2015-11-13 06:56 am (UTC)(link)
I tend to find facial hair a big turn off, and am not generally completely un-attracted to people who have it. But there's no denying that Riker rocked that facial hair.

*am not generally completely un-attracted to people who have it

Ridiculous double negative sentence for the lose. :/

There are just some men who look better with a beard on, and Riker is one of them.
