Okay, I've never told this to anyone before. This probably will sound nuts. When I'm in the car or alone in my apartment, I pretend I'm this character in a story I've been imagining for years. I'll speak my "dialogue" out loud, and when I say something that I like the sound of (meaning either the content of the sentence, or the auditory sound of my delivery), I'll repeat it at least two more times in quick succession.

I do that in my head all the time. I'd do it out loud but I've done too good a job of training myself to never draw attention to myself if I can help it, and that carries over to when I'm alone. The house can be completely empty and I still don't feel comfortable saying anything I wouldn't want other people to hear.

That sounds familiar to me - sometimes I'll get into think out my side of a conversation, or explaining something to an imaginary person. I don't think it happens as much now, maybe because when I come up with an idea I feel a need to explain (usually some plotbunny), I'll type it out. Depending on exactly what it is it'll end up on either Deviant Art or on my muse comm on LJ.

Though there have been a few times I've sat and tried to write up a summary of my RP plots and just left them at the bottom of my Notepad file of incidental RP-related info (things like character names I might need and random Elvish words), and then end up deleting it all some time later.

All writers do this. It's a secret, but it's true.

I do that out loud all the time. Generally it's for something I'm currently writing but not always.

You're completely normal. Like me.

Oh, I do that to test if my RP/fanfic dialogue sounds right. I make faces or poses too, to figure out if what I'm describing comes across naturally if I do it myself.
