I would not want to be Muslim or a refugee right now. I guess one terrorist they apprehended said he was Syrian and an ISIS member. The blow back from this will not be good.

Nevermind that the refugees are trying to escape sickos like this, FFS.

Yeah, I read that and immediately cringed and was like, "Heeeeere we go..." :/.

This was one of my first thoughts, to be honestly. France is already such an Islamophobic country, this certainly isn't going to help.

(To be clear, I'm not saying in any way that anyone deserved this; it's beyond horrible.)

ISIS have been saying for a long time that they have put their terrorists among the refugees, so that wouldn't come as a surprise.

France: The #1 tourist destination for racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, anti-Semitism, etc.

Honestly, I don't think it's a coincidence that all the people I've ever met who romanticize the shit out of France are white Christians.

Then you must not have met a lot of Japanese and Chinese people.

Never before have I wished so much for the magical ability to erase Front National from reality. How much garbage will they start spewing in a few hours, how many mosquees will be vandalized and how many more innocent people assaulted just because their skin is a bit on the dark side...
Urgh. I just feel sick and sicker.

This is something I'm worried about too. I've already seen comments on articles that have me really worried. I know it's mostly just angry venting, but honestly you never know what people are capable of.

Honestly I think that's what the terrorists WANT - if they can cause more hatred, more people will radicalize and join their cause...or the opposing party, being proof the West is the "big bad".

Would that we could throw all terrorists into some shuttle and shoot them into some distant galaxy, never to be seen or heard from again.

Problem is you don't always know they're terrorists until they kill people. And they're willing to die for it.

Oh, yeah, you're right about that, sadly. Just a brief bit of some much needed venting.

Re: people gunned down in Paris tonight

(Anonymous) 2015-11-14 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
My thoughts exactly. The only way these people can make the world better is by leaving it.

Re: people gunned down in Paris tonight

(Anonymous) 2015-11-14 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
Except that they're leaving it but going Amok and taking innocents with them so uh not sure it really makes it better.

Re: people gunned down in Paris tonight

(Anonymous) 2015-11-14 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I'd definitely prefer shooting them off into outer space. Just haven't figured out a way to do it, yet.

Re: people gunned down in Paris tonight

You're exactly right. Moderate muslims around the world get squeezed by these actions, when numerically they're the #1 global victim of extremist Muslim terrorism. The result is often what you outline - either they die, or in a need to survive, they join. This is how extremist groups fill their ranks.

Sadly: yeah, this. That's what terror means.
