I'm utterly shocked. I have two friends living there. I managed to get hold of one so far, she's safe - not sure about the other. France has declared state of emergency. This is the biggest terror attack on European soil that I can remember, having an even higher death toll than the killings on Utoya.

Any idea where they live, what places they usually go on a Friday night? if they mentioned their school/uni's name, the closest metro station, a favorite pub that we can help you look up and locate?
Paris' big; with chance, they are in a very different part of the city.
I know it won't help long term, with the city locked down, but at least you can learn whether they're safe at the moment?

Thank you, man. The problem is that the one I haven't heard back from deleted her Facebook a while ago, so I don't have any information on that. I remembered I do have her sister added, though, so I'm going to ask her.

I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw the news that the hostage situation had ended. That was the part that scared me the most, I think. I know things are still very tense and people are still worried about what might happen next and all, but I am indeed glad that part of the nightmare is over.

Thank you, and I was relieved too - it must have been such a horror for those people.

I'm still holding my breath. I keep imagining more madmen armed with auomatic rifles, bazookas, flamethrower, grenades, what have you, roaming the streets further in the city.
I know it's just my morbid imagination, but still... yikes.
(Thought I ended up turning off the TV after the hostage situation was over. I can't take anymore of it for now.)

No, yeah, I don't blame you for continuing to think about all of that. It's a very real possibility right now, unfortunately. Hopefully, though, the police will get any other madmen who ARE wandering about before they can cause any more destruction.

God I'm glad they got them out, last I saw they were still being held.

I'm speechless about this whole thing tbh, I just hope everyone in France is as safe as they can be.
