I hate when tragedies happen because a lot of people make it all about themselves rather than the victims. This also goes for celebrity deaths.

I keep my mouth shut, but I can't help but side eye.

I was going to wait a few days, but I figured as a generalized statement it'd be alright and giving a disclaimer to the fact I'm posting about how *I* feel would invite shitposting.

You're right and I agree, but I also don't necessarily think it's wrong for people to feel shocked or hurt about something like this for their own selves, even if they have no personal connection to Paris at all. If a week later they keep bringing up about how they once took a trip to Paris and this just hurts them so much, maybe they should let the actual victims do the talking. But any terrorist attack can be really shocking and disturbing to hear about, and Paris is such a well-known icon to people. To some extent, I think the celebrity death thing is a good comparison, and I don't think it's wrong to feel genuinely upset and express that, especially when you first hear the news and you're still sort of processing it.
