Innocent people murdered over a magical sky daddy that doesn't fucking exist.

Re: people gunned down in Paris tonight

Stop. This isn't about believing in God, and you're shitting on everyone who's finding comfort in prayer right now.

Re: people gunned down in Paris tonight

There were suicide bombers, this is most definitely an Islamic terrorist attack. Yes, yes it does have to do with religion.

Survivors of the concert massacre said that the gunman were screaming 'allah' and 'this is for Syria'

Re: Also

is Syria already screwed? what the fuck...?

Re: Also

(Anonymous) 2015-11-14 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)
They were screwed over already with Assad. This is just hastening it's death knell.

Re: people gunned down in Paris tonight

(Anonymous) 2015-11-14 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
The sky daddy's the excuse, not the reason.

Re: people gunned down in Paris tonight

(Anonymous) 2015-11-14 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
Only this is 100% about believing in God. People can find comfort in whatever the hell they want, but let's not lie to ourselves about the nature of Islamist terrorist attacks, okay?

Re: people gunned down in Paris tonight

(Anonymous) 2015-11-14 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
Nope. Terrorist attacks are about power, not God.

Re: people gunned down in Paris tonight

(Anonymous) 2015-11-14 01:49 pm (UTC)(link)
That's like saying guns don't kill people, people with guns kill people! Sorry, but Islam is a loaded gun, and the majority of the terrorism in the world today, slavery, genocide, is being committed under the banner of Islam and its 'god'. You can stick your fingers in your ears and go, 'lalala it's not PC to say Islam is bad! Lalala!" but that doesn't change reality.

Re: people gunned down in Paris tonight

well, that's escalated quickly. gish, you and your hate.

i never met the most closed minded people even, but this is ridiculous....

Re: people gunned down in Paris tonight

(Anonymous) 2015-11-14 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
Fuck you. Keep your hate out of this, you're only making things worse.

I'm glad at least a couple of people in this thread are talking about the real issue here, rather than talking around it.

I can't even convey how much I wish people would stop acting like Islam is a loving religion being perverted by hateful people. Islam is, not wholly but certainly fundamentally, a hateful, intolerant religion. MANY Muslim people are good and kind, and they do their best to make their religion serve a loving purpose because they are good, kind people. But the religion itself is, sadly, more accurately reflected by the ideology and behavior of the terrorists. That's why this keeps happening.

I always wonder about the religion of people who post things like this. Atheist who's never heard of Lenin? Really, really heavily in denial Christian? Smug Jain sitting there all like "Hey, we don't even kill insects"?

I always wonder about the common sense of people who disagree with should-be-obvious statements like the one you're responding to.

I'll just leave this statistical report here:

I think we're arguing different points here. You're saying that Islam is bad, and I'm saying that there's not a lot of ground by which other religions can claim to be better. Christianity, at least, hasn't had that sort of grounds since Emperor Constantine, and it can never have such grounds so long as the Lord's Resistance Army continues to exist.

You're presuming I don't feel similarly about most other religions. I do. In particular, I'm no fan of Christianity.

The reason my fear of and disgust for Islam outstrips my fear of and disgust for Christianity is mainly because Christianity has, in most places in the world and to varying degrees, been brought to heel. The separation of church and state in America (where I happily do not reside) is admittedly pretty tenuous (alarmingly, frighteningly tenuous, IMO), but at least there is one. Even in Russia, with the issues they're having right now, religion is not given the power to determine politics on just about every level to the extent that it is in many of the major Islamic countries.

Also, statistically, extremism is far more prevalent in Islam than it is in Christianity, at the present time (which frankly is the point in time that matters to me by far the most).

A couple of receipts for prevalence of extremism in Islam:

http://www.pewforum.org/files/2013/04/gsi2-chp1-9.png
http://www.pewforum.org/files/2013/04/gsi2-chp4-2.png
http://www.pewforum.org/files/2013/04/gsi2-chp3-11.png

Admittedly, I haven't bothered to look up the stats for what percentage of Christians believe fellow Christians should be killed for leaving Christianity, or for whether a wife must always obey her husband, or for whether honor killings are permissible. But I think we can agree that, on the whole, those numbers are going to be a fair bit lower than the ones provided by the PEW research study regarding Islam. (Though I might still try looking it up, tomorrow, when I'm less exhausted and sickened by this whole thing.)

And one more time, this Very Important Point: Hating/fearing a religion does NOT equal hating/fearing the people who ascribe to said religion. As far as I'm concerned, good people manage to make some pretty decent stuff out of some very messed up belief systems.

"Christianity has, in most places in the world and to varying degrees, been brought to heel."

by who? the last time i checked, Islamphobia is more winner by margin. look, i don't understand what it takes to wrong a religions, especially Christianity. but islam has mixed this up, really fast and dangerously mind boggling.

And, you know arab is not a small state of land. and the history of the place are MAJOR CLUSTERFUCK of the recent years. and well, now you know who i gonna pointing finger at to clean the fucking mess.....?

by who?

By the slow, laborious, and often nonlinear process of civilization. That's...I mean, was that really a question?

the last time i checked, Islamphobia is more winner by margin.

The last time you checked was the middle ages? OMFG TIME TRAVEL.

hahaha, you just singled-out the hate towards islam, good job for you, you should give credit for. but is that the future you want, live on hating? not fight any right for single human being? bet you watch fights on the side lines, smirked not give a damn. or we just have this talk and let the hating win...

i was wishing so much that this isis is using islam for their own cover up, they do not represent anyone in this world. they just mindless people who can't live with anybody for damn sure.

Funny, the only person I see jumping quickly to judge and to despise here is you. You have judged me, and expressed contempt (if not outright hatred) of me, a person you barely know anything about at all, simply because I expressed an opinion you didn't like. Was it a hateful opinion? No. In my comment I did not express hate for a single living person. In fact, to some degree I expressed appreciation for the very people you've jumped to accuse me of hating. Or did you miss the extremely pivotal part of my comment in which I said:

MANY Muslim people are good and kind, and they do their best to make their religion serve a loving purpose because they are good, kind people. But the religion itself is[...]

I'm surprised by your inability to see that it is your views which are the unyielding ones, and mine that are careful not to condemn people for the brutal failings of an ideology.

not, the ideology is not hateful. it is ideology that to learn and passed for generation. and i don't think you know at being stuck in violence, with no control of the situations. It already be done. do you even encounter on such people.....? especially violence people...

my life and my country are at peace, im very grateful of that, and i gonna keep it like that but people like you DID gave a bad impression on me and it is accounting for.

Have you read the links I provided above? Here, just for you, I'll provide them again:

http://www.pewforum.org/2013/04/30/the-worlds-muslims-religion-politics-society-overview/

Read this, thoroughly, and then come back and tell me Islam is not a hateful ideology. On second thought, don't bother. If you can read the facts provided and still persist in ignoring them in favor of what you seem to want to believe, I may as well not waste my time talking to you.
