I thought about posting this in rants, but I'm not angry at anyone, per se.

Dear friends posting things like "dancing in line at the movies!",

I don't know if you're trying to lighten the mood or if you don't know what's going on or if it's timestamp fail or what, but... no one on social media cares right now.

It's not that you're doing anything wrong. You're not supposed to be sitting by the TV sobbing, although a lot of people are. It's just... people's minds are not on your happy Friday night adventures ATM. Sorry.

They probably don't know what's going on. Also, I'll bet you there are people who want to see things like that because yeah, it'll take their minds off of things.

I'm still interested in the fun stuff out there on the internet right now because I can't devote 100% of myself to being upset. What's happening in Paris is awful and I hope this stops and no one else gets killed, but there's nothing I can do for them. It's not gonna help anything for me to sit around avoiding anything remotely happy.

Is the person getting pissed off that no one LOL'd at their post? If not, then you're just being a dick. Work on that.

Some of us were distracted by personal stuff and didn't get the news until several hours later.

Not everyone's tuned into the news 24/7, though. For example, I was out most of the day, and didn't hear about what happened in Paris until I got home in the evening. I have a phone and all, but I'm not checking it every two minutes for news. I could easily see posting a frivolous FB update without realizing what had happened.

I had some stuff to deal with in the afternoon/evening and did not turn on the TV or radio or go to any news sites or use social media (which I barely use anyway). I was with friends at a restaurant for a late dinner and we had already been there a while when one of them mentioned what was happening in Paris. They all knew but I was like "WHAT?!" It happens. I mostly slept through 9/11 (I didn't have class until the afternoon) and somehow didn't find out about Shuttle Columbia until about a week after the fact.
