19. You have to admit, he makes a HUGE leap between the two games. A lot of that development due to his friendship with Roxas - in fact, almost ALL of it, before FM+ - happened off-screen. I can't blame people who think that way, even though if you think it through it does make sense and can be fully justified. But seriously - to go from a literally back-stabbing bastard to a guy who says "you make me feel like I have a heart"? It's a stretch without lots and lots of very thorough support. (Which is THERE, but. Just playing devil's advocate here.)

Oh, I am willing to admit it can be considered a drastic change, but like you said, the support for that is indeed present. The flailing in my secret is more so directed towards those who missed it and feel rather smug about it.

The justification and support that IS there is what makes the whole story so tragic and awesome, imo. Dividing him up on purpose seems like it would miss the point..

I'm going to go out on a limb with some bizzaro-logic here and say that the smugness comes from the perception that, by virtue of Axel's characterization being inconsistent between the two games, it lends less credibility to the Axel and Roxas ship. The supposed "change" would imply pure fanservice and money-grubbing on Nomura's part and somehow this is less legitimate from a "OMG SHIPPINZ" perspective than say, any other bit of subtext (for ANY two characters) in the damned series.

... that is a horrible reason. Canon never even directly ships them ANYWAY, they're just friends, even in the sappiest moments! So why-- wow.

Of course, this is not to say Nomura ISN'T a fanservicing crazy person, because he is. still, that's really lame reasoning. as there are NO FREAKING PAIRINGS in the series canonically (not even Kairi and Sora, really - that comes off as an unspoken mutual crush at most), using Nomura's batshit-ness to justify making Axel and Roxas not a pairing would mean you couldn't really pair ANYONE. That is full of fail.

Is that one of those new cutscenes that is not on KHvids, like the one with Axel, Riku and Namine on that Sunset hill? If it is, where can I find it? And is it subbed? Because I've been hearing people talking about quite a few scenes that I can't find anywhere, and it's driving me nuts (like one where Sora remembers he never thanked Naminé).
