I mean it's porn, but slash written by women a lot of times is also id fic that very obviously, awkwardly, and embarrassingly addresses unequal power dynamics. This is intersectionality in action here. I'm sorry for OP's rage and upset. It sucks to feel used and fetishized, especially by ignorant people who have no sensitivity or awareness of their privileges. But OP is also a man and part of a sexist society, so this is the flip side, the bite of that. I know it sucks. Sorry.

Also, yes, it's porn and we love our porn.

I think you took my comment the wrong way. I wasn't saying it sucks. I was saying everybody getting all self righteous about their porn is goddamn funny because lol, it's porn. Expecting it to not fetishize someone is dumb

AYRT

Obviously it fetishizes and offends (see OP). But neither does that mean it's simply porn to everyone. I can't speak for you. Sure, I get my rocks off on it. But it also means a hell of a lot more for me, even as I'm getting off. It means something to me psychosexually, re: the standard heteronormative dynamic, and how that *isn't* what's going on between the characters when I create/write my favorite slash scenarios. They have something different between them, and it hits something in me that is so important and impossible to attain with any of the guys I have been with that, seriously, it is to weep. So lol all you want, but that's the intersection: I'll fetishize my imaginary gay partners because they have what I never can thanks to sexism. No one will ever make me that sandwich. In bed or anywhere else. So I write it instead.
