I won't judge!

I remember Stephen mentioning the fanfiction at least once on TCR, and he seemed to have a sense of humor about it.

I also remember someone who had been to a taping mention that he talked about it before a show... can't remember if an audience member asked a question about it or he brought it up himself, but I think he was cool about it. (Maybe even teased that "all of it was true".)

Yeah, I think the guys' attitude about their fans and the fanfic world, and their ability to joke and have fun with the concept of them having this romantic setup, definitely helped make it easier for fans who did the fic/art stuff :D.

I totally understand why some celebrities get weirded out by that stuff, of course, and fans need to respect that if the actors express that discomfort. To an outside perspective all of this probably would look a little strange and bizarre (and frankly, sometimes it is!) :p. But it is cool when the celebrities are in on the joke, too, and know it's all meant in fun and "get" and respect the interest in fanfic and fanart and that sort of thing.

I don't think fanfic is that strange or bizarre, but I guess I could see why someone who was totally unfamiliar with the world of fandom might be initially taken aback by it. And RPF is more personal; even if you're using an actor or actresses' 'persona' in the fic I can see why that would make some people uncomfortable. Especially celebrities themselves, though I find it super endearing when actors just laugh it off. (James McAvoy, for instance; I actually think he delights in it a bit.)

Then again, I just love people who are easy-going and have a good sense of humor, so that ties into it.
