Well, I don't like it anymore, but give OUAT different (better) showrunners. Ones who would make sure they/the other writers had and followed a comprehensive timeline/continuity bible. Pretty sure the sloppy writing is on the showrunners, not so sure about the invasion of Disney characters, but better showrunners and writers might be able to blend them in a bit bette. Season 1 OUAT was Disney-with-a-twist, but later seasons just straight up transpose Disney charactere (Cruella, the entire cast of Frozen, and now Merida) onto the show.

Season one was shit. It's slipping now but has mostly been an improvement since.
