Public transport

[personal profile] caerbannog 2015-11-15 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
People talking loudly on phones, nearly as annoying as loud gum chewers.

This headset was a good investment. *frowns and turns up sound*

Probably the single most important use of earphones, yeah - drowning out idiots on the train or in the office.

The loud gum chewers were the final straw :(

Public transport is the reason why I consider my car a good investment.

Haha I wish I could drive to work but $30 a day parking? I can't do that.

Motorists are the reason I consider public transport a good use of public funds.

Cars are a difficult investment for people on pensions and I don't drive. If I need a car, I budget for a taxi.

Really? I love those people. I don't even have do get a book or something those people are more entertaining then most soaps.

Srrly tonight there was someone on the train who hated her roommate and thought she did everything utterly wrong. But instead of telling her roommate this she gossiped about it with her other roommate. To the degree that they were secretly whatapping each other when the ''awful'' roommate was in the room. And she was just wondering why the ''awful'' roommate didn't invite her to anything and ate all her food.

HAha, I love listening to people on public transport. I really can't believe some of the things people are willing to discuss in public sometimes. The last bus home for the night is especially entertaining.

AYRT o yeah the last bus is glorious. I had a lady on the phone with her BFF who tried to figure out who the father of her child would be.

One time I listened in increasing amazement to someone complaining about a mutual friend always talking loudly on the phone.

Problem is, at least half of those I tend to encounter are doing it in a language I don't understand and the rest are talking about the weather or something equally exciting...

Nothing is as disgusting as tobacco chewers.

I think most ppl just have normal gum around here. It'd be okay if they chewed with their mouth shut :(

Coincidentally, my least favorite folks on the bus are the ones with their headsets turned up so loud you can hear their music from three seats away. :)

(Seriously, I'm never sure what to say to them. I assume they think no one else can hear their music, but I'm not sure whether to correct them on that.)

Re: Public transport

(Anonymous) 2015-11-15 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
They've probably ruined their hearing, so it doesn't sound loud to them.

Re: Public transport

(Anonymous) 2015-11-16 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
Mine's never THAT loud. But I am aware you can probably hear the CHCHCHCHCH noise. I only turn it up that loud for plausible ignorance when weirdos try and talk to me. >.>

Haha! Rest assured I'm not having mine up that loud. I do want to hear my upcoming stop or any emergencies XD

I'm always confused as to why people talk loudly on their phones in public, but I guess it comes down to "I'm a private person and I don't want everyone knowing my business." If at all possible I'll step outside or step into a less crowded room, or just text or call the person back. I don't like talking on the phone in public.

I've heard some mighty personal conversations that way, and it can be super uncomfortable, lol. (Once at the movie theater I overheard a conversation by a woman about her no good, cheating boyfriend. She was extremely loud, I was waiting for my mom to come out of the bathroom, I was like, "Uh, what do I do, how can I pretend to not hear this? I have no earphones/earbuds." lol. On one hand I felt bad for her, but...yea, it was awkward.)

Thank god I can zone out by looking at the scenery. And walking the last mile or so isn't that big of a deal.

People who play their music so loud it can be heard by everyone around them through their headphones are also annoying.

I think I've encountered more people doing this in the library than on the bus. I swear I'm not making this up: in the library. And then there was the one who started humming and beating time on the desk with her hands...

The most important function on a phone for me is the MP3 player. I am glad my current phone has a good one in it.
