This is actually something I loved about Robin McKinley's vampire novel 'Sunshine'...the FMC is a baker and there's a lot of talk about it. Some readers complained ("So boring! I don't need all this detail about your muffins!") but I loved the shit out of it.

And it was character topical, too...like, she's a baker, she has the feed-people gene, so there's an element of "...vampire friend doesn't eat??? but must provide baked goods for friends?? what do??"

I love baking but to be perfectly honest, that book contained too much of it. It wouldn't have been so bad if the character was at least talking about a variety of baked goods but no, it was always cinnamon rolls. Cinnamon roll this, cinnamon roll that... it got in the way of the story and it was glaringly obvious that this was the author's personal obsession. McKinley has a thing about this, her book reflects her latest interests and she goes overboard with it.
