I managed to write a one-shot last week, but I'm still stalled on the current chapter of a WIP I've got. And, while trying to work on it today, I had an epiphany about canon that has made me question the ending I'd planned and made me regret posting anything before I'd completed the entire fic.

The epiphany was kinda cool, I guess, but I'm super frustrated.

Could imagining that the story is an AU help you get over that block? Sometimes I do that when my perspective of canon changes.

If not, hey, maybe moving on is for the best.

The epiphany isn't quite on that scale; it's more a...different way of solving a problem, if that makes sense? There's a lot of discussion in this fandom about how to keep Main Character alive while still preventing Bad Thing, and I just realized that there's a really easy way to do it, a way that, for some reason, I hadn't thought about before.

I think I'm going to explore it in a different story to get it out of my system.

Can you wrangle the new ending anyway? It might be more work, but you could end up with an awesome fic.

It might be possible, but I don't think it would really work without me going back and changing what I've already posted. It'll very much seem like it's come out of nowhere (and, well...it will have!).

I think what I might have to do is stow this concept away for later and write something else with it as the focus. Or, hell, just bang out something quick to get it out of my head.
