If that is the case and he knew about his diagnosis at the time, and he didn't tell them and give them the opportunity to make an informed decision about consent, then that is his personal failing and depending on where you live, illegal.

I think if they're going to do a story on HIV and informed consent, the media has a responsibility to make an effort not to demonise an entire group of people when the vast majority are doing the right thing.

Basically, I don't trust the media to do the right thing when fear-mongering will attract more interest.

I wouldn't worry about that right now, the press is fear mongering over muslims in the wake of Paris at the moment.
