So very, very weird. "Yes, please stand there and stare off into nothing so we can add in your recorded speech later."

Though the weirdest example I can think of was some soap opera where a man started to monologue his evil plans out loud while completely alone. I was so confused and kept wondering if someone was going to walk in on him and discover his plot, but nope! It was all so the audience would get exposition.
