Can't speak for "Heroes Reborn" specifically, since I haven't seen it (nor the original "Heroes", for that matter), but I do agree with your general sentiment about hate-watching. I don't get the point of it, either. I don't get the point of wasting time watching a show I don't like, when I could spend that time focusing on things I do enjoy.

Criticism of a show is obviously fine and necessary. I've got critiques for all my favorite shows, too: seasons that aren't as strong, episodes I don't care for, you name it. But there's a vast difference between that and just constant griping and bitching and moaning, to the point where it's clear the person complaining doesn't like a single thing about the show anymore, nor has much, if any, hope that the show will ever improve again. And at that point I wonder why they're even bothering anymore.

The only reason I could see that would make sense at that point is that their "see it through to the end" mindset is kicking in. That I get, 'cause I'm the same way. But even with that, it still just sounds exhausting and not worth the time or energy.

To each their own, though, of course. *Shrugs*

I don't mind if they need to see it through to the end, but they better not make it miserable for everyone else.

If they can't hang around and discuss it without being a gigantic dick to people, they need to at least stay out of fan spaces for it.

Or create a fanspace where hate-watchers can congregate with like-minded folks and exchange vitriol.

That could work too, although my experience has been that communities founded on hate tend to become very nasty. So while I support them creating one, I'll probably never want to read it or go near it.

But if it keeps the hate watchers away, I say go for it.

Completely agreed on this. Even if I agree with their complaint, if they're expressing it in an obnoxious manner, I'm just going to want them to shut up and go away more than anything else at that point.

Yeah.

Reminds me of the "you have to like it because canon" people/ Even on a pairing I liked, I hated those people and wanted them to go the fuck away.

Especially if they're stating something I would normally agree with in an obnoxious, exaggerated manner.

Mmhm. I've also seen and experienced it with other fans of characters I or others liked. Like, yeah, I could agree with the general complaint in some respects, or see their point, or whatever, but at the same time I can't help but think, "You guys are taking this WAY too damn seriously and overreacting." Which especially sucks if I tend to agree with them and have fun chats with them in general about the characters or pairings we both like most of the time.
