Since you don't seem to mind middle grade, do you mind talking animals? Redwall is cool with worldbuilding, but oftentimes we never see the worlds again, which is a huge pity.

Mistmantle is a lot better - it's contained, but it grows over the course of five books. Only thing is, the books may not be easily available anymore, they were never terribly popular out of the UK.

I did actually try to read Redwall once and I didn't really like it that much. Okay, but not my favorite thing.

I'll have to see if I can find Mistmantle, though.

Understandable. What book was it, if you remember? They were written / published out of order until like book 14 (the 13th released is chronologically #1...seriously!)
