Yeah, those bad fic that just stick with you. *shudders*

I've shaken most of those off, but I swear there is this one literal skull fucking fic off a kink meme that will be seared into my brain until my dying breathe.

Don't yell at the author, OP. Just try to move on.

I don't think you need to yell, but leaving a constructive review detailing why you think it's wrong might help others who wander into the fic. Whenever I'm starting to read for a new fandom, especially one that's been around for a few years, I really rely on reviews to decide if a fic is worth reading so I, for one, would really appreciate that type of feedback as a warning to stay away from the fic.

Oh, OP, I recently read a fic that also had a shit ton of abuse and rape and consent issues, and it was just...I felt really awful when I finished reading it. I hoped no one would read it because that was just....It was really sad, because for a minute, I could see how a person gets caught up in an abusive cycle. The OC was literally breaking down, hollowing up, and becoming someonelse under the control of the canon character. It was disturbing. I needed to bathe my soul after that. Literally spent a few days after reading that fic feeling like shit.

Anybody else disturbed by the pregnant Barbie?

This kinda reminds me of a fic I once read that I felt had one character pressuring the other, and the other was acting like it was all just fine because he got aroused/got off when they fucked.

I quit the fic because I really couldn't stand how it treated it as fine.

(Anonymous) 2015-11-21 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I wish I'd quit, but I was so invested at that point, I just sort of pushed through. But once I got to the other side, I regretted it so hard. If it's a short fic, it's easy to bail, but if you'd dedicated the time to read multiple chapters and it's a finished work, it feels like you should push through to the end game. Too bad the end game sucked!

I'd like to read that fic...

BTW, it's mpreg. I know, what did I expect, but surprise het sex loaded with consent issues really wasn't what I thought I'd get from my cheesy buttsex fix. So, enjoy? http://archiveofourown.org/works/2690594/chapters/6020450

I've definitely had similar experiences a few times. It always makes me want to scream, "Are you daft or just an asshole? TAG this shit, so that I can avoid it with a ten foot pole." I've never actually done that, though. I have very occasionally left a polite request that the person add some warning tags to their fic. It often doesn't work though. More often than not the person refuses to see the reality of what they've written and insists it doesn't need any warning tags, regardless of whether there's one or several people advising them that they do need some tags.

(Anonymous) 2015-11-21 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, the tags did NOT warn for that. They looked pretty fluffy aside from a implied/referenced death tag. And the two tossed in couples weren't even indicated by the standard /. They were A & B rather than A/B, so it was like "Hey, I don't think I signed up for this." But at that point you're in so deep, you keep going down the rabbit hole and then wonder what the fuck happened when it shits you out at the other end.
