You implied that OP wasn't working on their anxiety by suggesting that was mutually exclusive with having IP logging off, with the whole "which is worse...?" thing. It sounded like you were sitting them down and saying, "Look, I know this is hard, but you need to work on your fear so we can all have an enjoyable community" which is condescending. I don't think your comment was helpful or added any value to the conversation and I agree with OP that it was insulting because it implies they haven't thought any of this through before.
