Most Awkward Situations

[personal profile] kaijinscendre 2015-11-21 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
What are some of the most awkward situations you have been in?

I went to look at some houses today and the last one was quite possibly the most awkward thing I have done. I guess the buyer isn't all that enthused about selling (or something) and has been renting it. Which isn't too weird because they usually make the renters leave when it is being viewed. Not this seller! When we got there, we were greeted by the family (the person who greeted us spoke little English). All 14 or so of them. We literally stayed like two minutes because everyone was just hanging out in their PJs and there had been no cleaning done (it wasn't filthy but there were clothes in the bathroom floor and such).

Oh man. I have had a viewing kinda like that. My boyfriend and I went to view a two bed flat, only to find that there were 12 polish people living there (five adults, seven children), walls coated in mould (presumably from all of the washing drying in the tiny, tiny flat), and that part of the ceiling had flooded and collapsed and they hadn't reported it to anyone.

It was a horrible situation. The landlord was speechless.

lol I have never seen that happen and I probably looked at 20 houses before settling on the one we bought.

Maybe they just didn't understand they were supposed to leave lol.

Having to sit quietly and listen for a good 20 minutes in a counseling session, while families discussed among themselves whether they want to adopt the puppy that the kid has fallen in love with, after I disclose its various non-life-threatening-but-potentially-expensive medical issues, while the kid cries his eyes out because the parents don't think it's a good idea right now.
