Yet again, take assurance that the sole reason to do NaNo is NOT just to create a publishable novel. Some people use it for that, yes, but in general NaNo it is also a good way to loosen the creative pipes and prove to yourself that yes, you really CAN write that many words in a month.

(Also, I think the best thing about it is that it forces you to stop doing the thing where you write one sentence and then spnd 15 minutes editing it. Fiddling with the fine grit sandpaper is almost always going to make you miss your word goals.)

Goodness, yes.

Of course, I go right back to doing that after NaNo is over. But it sure is nice to spend a month getting out of one's way.

One of two (out of four) years that I did NaNo and finished, I wrote an autobiography. So go for it!

Hey, whatever gets you to put words on paper/screen.

I swear this is a repeat

If I remember correctly, it got booted to the not fandom side because they used a regular meme format. (That one bear or sloth one? I don't know the name of it) The person repackaged it in Spiderman meme and it got accepted.

They bothered disguising it? I just straight up write fanfiction for thirty days every year.

The challenge is to write a novel-length work, but the intent is to promote writing and literacy, so as long as you're writing...

I don't understand why people hide it either. Some good mid-length fic comes out of NaNo

haha, what a brilliant picture!
