Re: "I hate kids!"

I have come across a lot of people who act as is they think children exist just to offend them, and I just don't understand that.

Same. I get feeling awkward around kids, and I get that some people just aren't very paternal/maternal towards kids. And I certainly won't argue that there are some kids out there who are obnoxious brats that I probably couldn't stand to be around for more than five seconds at best. I worked in retail, and lost count of how many bratty kids I encountered :p.

But at the same time...yeah, a lot of kids are loud, and run around, and are hyper. That's what kids do. And depending on the age, sometimes it's the only way they know how to really communicate when they need/want something. I'm not going to fault children for acting like children.

And if kids are acting like brats, then my anger is generally directed more towards the parents for not knowing how to handle their kids better. Given the way some parents talk to and treat their kids, it's no surprise if their children turn out to be equally obnoxious.
