Also, most people who "hate" kids don't actually deal with and interact with and understand kids on a personal level much, they just observe them or are forced to be around them for job stuff. And having to be around kids without seeing them as intelligent, rational people (which they are - just not in the same ways that adults are) is pretty damn annoying because kids don't behave the way adults behave, and are often loud.

And when it comes to being rational and intelligent, btw: typical kids tend to be a whole HELL of a lot less emotionally maladaptive and rigidly stuck in their ways and crippled by tunnel vision and ideas about how things are "supposed" to be than typical adults, IMO. But if you're used to dealing with adults, you will like adults a lot better because they express their issues in more familiar-to-you ways than kids do.

Yep.

I mean, I don't love kids. I'll just throw that out there right now. I don't care for toddlers much, I don't get googly-eyed over infants, I don't want to breed myself at all. Ever.

But I have a lot of practical experience with kids, and the real problem seems to be with people (parents, relatives) who are determined to treat them like some kind of different species that is incapable of understanding you and that might explode at any given moment. Children are not as stupid as people seem to think, and that's a huge part of why people allow (and encourage) them to behave badly.
