Re: "I hate kids!"

(Anonymous) 2015-11-24 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
"Unfortunately when you tell people you don't want kids you'll often get condescending remarks on how you'll change your mind some day, life is worthless without kids, it's different when it's your own, etc. "

Every single time someone tells me this I'm ready to just walk right out of the room in the middle of the conversation(I'm ace). I can make decisions for myself, tyvm. I've heard all three of those responses at one time or another. It's usually some lady my mom is familiar with who brings up the subject in the first place.

I don't care much for kids since the good majority I deal with are brats (screaming temper tantrums, no manners, generally unclean, spoiled rotten, self-centered). I don't mind kids who are very well-behaved, smart, and calm (generally the ones who are picked on by the brats). If I were a teacher like my mom had wanted me to be, I think I'd be more comfortable teaching a gifted class or something more reserved kids would be interested in.

Babies, though, forget them. They're on the same level as mosquitoes to me. Until a kid reaches preschool age I have absolutely no interest in being around them. If you want me to babysit a whole litter of puppies or kittens, I'm down for that, though.
