Text: This is such a small fandom, and practically unknown show, so I don't know why, but...

I feel really guilty for shipping these two. It's the age difference, it's a big one. I don't know, they just hit all of my kinks (older/younger, protector/bodyguard, etc.) I gained an amazing friend in what is possibly the only "BNF" for this fandom though, so I don't regret a thing.

OP, you want to link to that fic? (I remember looking for Six/Rex fic years ago and not finding anything decent. I would love rec's!)

Anyway, the age difference didn't bother me much but then that flashback episode happened where Rex was even younger and I went, "Okay, this is weird, let's go back to the present." Didn't stop me shipping grown up Rex with Six, but it made me more aware than ever how much of an age difference there was between the two.

Fic? Did I mention fic? The girl I'm talking about is an artist, not a fic writer. But yeah her shit pops up pretty much the moment you type in Six/Rex. She's really popular because she emulates the style of the show really well and churns out a decent amount of stuff for the series even now.

Mmmmhhhmmm. I'm a fic writer (I know writing a fic for this series now is pretty pointless but I still plan on writing up something! It will make my friend happy anyway. :D) and that episode made me more conscious of how carefully I'm going to have to tread with regards to the age difference. I mean, Rex is like six months away from being 18 at the end of the series so it's not that weird at that point but these two would definitely have a hard time navigating between a romantic/sexual relationsihp and Six's more bodyguard like role. The only thing that really saves it is that their relationship doesn't have any parental vibes.

ANYWAY, thanks for the link! I like her style; it's simple but looks very reminiscent of the show art, which is good! I'm not a major fan of the younger Rex and Six drawings even though there's nothing sexual going on, but she's got the right style for this particular series.

IDK man, if you wrote a fic I would probably read it! As long as you advertised it or I remembered to look. I was really into the idea of those two the entire run of the show and I never saw much about them. As long as you acknowledged the age difference (it's even weirder when people just act like it doesn't exist) it would be okay.

It would be different though, for sure. Anytime a friendship or some other type of relationship takes a romantic turn there's some differences, but like you said, at least Six isn't anything even remotely like a father figure to Rex. (If he were, my feelings on the pairing would most likely be extremely different.)

I didn't even know Generator Rex HAD any BNFs. I only follow the tumblr side of it though, so I could be missing a whole active fandom for all I know.

Ahhh, her. Her art is great, though shota isn't my thing, so I have her blocked since she refused to tag her Six/Rex as anything that could be blacklisted for those of us uncomfortable with adult/minor pairings. :c

Err...I mean, if it helps, Rex in her romantic drawings are always when he's like 17/18 near the end of the series, and anything when Rex is younger is her enjoying the bodyguard/nurturing side of things. She doesn't speak much English, so if someone approached her asking about tagging and stuff I don't know how much she would understand it. She's always very concerned about keeping everybody happy and that definitely doesn't sound like something she would purposely do. She may also have brushed it off because iirc there were some Six/Holiday shippers that were making it a point to harass her and report all her Six/Rex work no matter what the subject matter, so if someone had asked her during that time she may have thought it was just more of that.

Ah. I've never actually spoken to her, since most of her art I saw could still be read as the familial relationship I prefer, so I enjoyed seeing it even knowing the shippy intent. IIRC I blocked her because I heard she was getting very snippy with a friend of mine asking her to tag it as shota. Though knowing the friend in question, it's possible she was harassing her. I'm sorry she was getting harassed though, that's dumb no matter her shipping preferences. :(

Mind you, this was a couple years ago now, so I can't say much about what's been happening lately with the fandom gaining a second wind lately. I hope she's not getting argued with anymore at least, no one deserves that over what sounds like a misunderstanding at best.
