I haven't watched the new season. But I agree this was a good show for a long time. I am sorry to hear there's a Mary-shaped hole in the current stuff.

Mary got on my nerves a bit, and I kinda liked some of what Paula said, but I understand your sentiment. I disliked the new format, and I thought the show was definitely less this year than in previous years. I'm thinking that this might be the last season, and I'm sad this show might have ended like that.

Mary could grate on people, for obvious reasons, but she was a ballroom expert, and that -- for the judging panel -- was important. Sticking Paula in there and hoping to fill a hole of that kind of knowledge was never going to work.

I used to love this show, too, particularly as a former dancer myself, but I couldn't even follow to the finish this year, which made me sad. I didn't care for the format change at all, either. I still love Cat Deeley forever, though, and her adorable mothering of all the contestants.

I love this show. I actually liked the new format. The new judges sucked, though. And Mary will be missed. I was just happy my favorite dancer made it to second place, though.

I feel you, OP, I didn't completely agree with format change and new judging panel this season as well. But the format allowed for more group dances to be shown, which I always find more interesting than partner dances, so I'm not 100% unhappy with this season.

The group dances this year were amazing. The first Team Stage performance, the Dia de Muertos piece, the Vivienne Westwood fashion show gone wild group dance, and Travis' ghostlight piece were the highlights for me.

I'm just sad that it looks like SYTYCD isn't going to be renewed for the next season, so it looks like it's goodbye to the only dancing show I like watching.

I definitely know what you mean and how you feel. Like other posters/commenters I loved this show, watched it, and really enjoyed it - but could not watch last season. ;__; It bugged me so much. It was already awful how they kept jumping from "one winner - one guy, one girl - two winners - one winner"; and the "all stars" and "ok no one goes home, ok two people go home, ok dance for your life, ok go straight home". But then last season? Too far. ;__;
