This particular scene is from the second one, Bee is upset because Sam is trying his best to lead a normal life and that includes leaving your best friend/car back at home while going to college.

I think my enjoyment of this pairing was because of a few things: one, Megan Fox's character was disgusting. Like I honestly think she's smoking hot and could have been a super cool character, but that character couldn't have been any more "generic love interest chick who isn't like all the other chicks" if they had purposely tried to write a goddamn parody. Two: They kind of unintentionally (???) gave Sam and Bee an "insta-bond" type moment and as veterans of sci-fi fandoms know sometimes that insta-bond defies species barriers.

The relationship between those two is weird. I get it. But a lot of authors actually tackled that really well, either making romance from the jagged edges or elevating it to something else that was less "human conventions of romance" and more along the lines of soulmates in the autobot sense.

After the second movie came out and made canon what had been a huge fanon thing (that Sam had been affected by the Allspark) fandom went pretty crazy with it. :P

Ah, okay, I remember now! Poor Bumblebee. Sam should've brought him to college! (I mean, if I had a alien/car bff I'd certainly bring it everywhere I went.)

I didn't find Megan Fox's character disgusting, just boring and predictable. The whole LI plot was unnecessary, but movies these days think they need to have one. However, the insta-bond thing works and I feel you on that. I almost did use soulmates in my original comment. Not sure how else you would describe those two...friendship doesn't cover it. (Though of course friendships are deep and meaningful...it just doesn't feel like the appropriate term.)

But of course not every relationship has to be conventional, romantic or otherwise!

Now I wish I had been in the fandom for the reaction, lol. I love seeing fans flip their shit.
