Since... probably before 2012? There are a few anons here who are bothered (as in physically/causing migraines etc.) by the motion.

Shouldn't the onus be on the people who have that problem to use extensions that disable moving images?

I forget why they couldn't before, but there was some reason (maybe one of them can step in and explain?). Either way we only get like one or two every few months.

About six months ago you ran a poll in the GC and we came down on the side of not linking gifs, remember?

No, but it may be my error and it's completely slipping my mind.

What I do recall is asking and people were for trying not linking for a while (because perhaps the anons that were getting affected had left, as it had been a long time since people had originally asked), I went with it (on a trial basis). Then when the next batch of gifs went up, a couple of people messaged me about how it was affecting them again and how they were still here.

I'm not someone with issues, but I have a friend who does (and I know she's one of the people who's requested linking to moving GIFs or at least a warning), and a large part of it is that you can't use those extensions on things like an iPad or a smartphone - so yes, she does use that on a computer to disable GIFs, but she can't always read secrets on a computer, so linking instead of putting them in directly means that her physical issues don't hit if she happens to be reading secrets on a tablet rather than a computer.

(Sorry for the very late response, I'm still catching up on secrets by the bunch, but I figured I'd answer anyway since no one had.)
