They do get judged just as harshly. There just is less buzz about the situation because we are all jaded and used to male assholes adopting an asshole persona. The guys still get judged for being bad sportsmen, and when a contender comes along that keeps it civil they get praised. Women's fighting is still considered new enough and notable enough that it is worth talking about it when an unmitigated ass comes along, pretty soon we'll be resigned to accepting that women will be the dumbass badass types too.

I don't really see much of a worthwhile distinction between being judged harshly and being on the receiving end of negative buzz. You're kind of saying that men are judged just as harshly... but women get more negative public attention. Uh, that's the same level at all then, is it? If me and my male neighbor both do something shitty like let our dogs shit on the sidewalk without picking it up but everyone singles me out for public criticism, then we're NOT being judged equally harshly.
