Then, I rewatched the first two seasons of Psych, and I finally got it. Tbh, they are VERY slashy. And I am no longer convinced that the lack of Shawn/Gus is really because of racism.

I'd be more convinced of this if this weren't a huge pattern in slash fandoms. It's not like this a shocking idea applied only to Shawn/Gus. No matter how much chemistry the black guy has with a white character, if there is even a random background character white guy who is both good looking and non-melanin enriched you bet your ass people will find some way to justify shipping the white guy with the other random white guy.
