Re: spoilers
They really do protect and cover each others weakness! (Like you mention with Kala and Wolfgang, and that bit with Will and Kala. There's so many moments where one character needs someone urgently, either because they're 'trapped' and need a specific skill or because they need someone to connect with emotionally, and that's exactly what they get.) It's interesting to see a show where the characters can share their knowledge and skill in such a literal and intimate way. It brings up some fun possibilities.
Nomi/Neets were my favorites. They're so sweet and such a perfect example of what a supporting, loving couple should be. I can't think of many canon pairings that are that devoted! (Especially 'early on'.) I liked Lito and Hernando's story arc too though, even if it was a bit stressful and sad at times; it all worked out! Plus, Kala and Wolfgang have a lot of chemistry. Riley and Will were cute, but are admittedly my least favorite couple.
Can I just say I love the cinematography of the show?
This is honestly one of the best things about the show, other than the cast and the various relationships. The scenery is never boring; it's always something different and pulls you into the world. I hadn't given thought to how that much traveling must effect production, but you have a point...
All worth it, though! Not many shows feel this diverse; I like that about it.
