In most of the comments I've read, people haven't discounted race as a factor, even if they've indicated that there are other dynamics. That's not saying that 'race couldn't possibly have anything to do with this ship not being popular' - it's saying that they think there are other elements to shipping.

The people you disagree with feel that there are multiple factors, and if I'm reading your comment right, you seem to be saying there is only one factor, which is racism.

if they're willing to agree that race is a significant factor, I'm not sure who they're arguing with, because no one is claiming it's the sole cause and reason for the ship's relative popularity. Including the person you're arguing with.
