It's made even better by the fact that the creator said they they intentionally made it seem like Richie had a crush on Virgil and that Richie was intended to be gay (like his counterpart in the comics) but that they couldn't exactly make that explicit because of the whole "being a saturday morning cartoon on the WB" thing.
